2007 Playoffs

I know it's early, but not too early.

Anybody have any favorites out there?

I can see what it'd be easy to pick the Sabres and Ducks, but I have a feeling San Jose can make it to the Cup.

The West is much more divided in terms of team placement compared to the East. Just to give an example, last game the Penguins could've jumped to 7th with a win, or dropped to 13 with a loss. It's so tight here in the East.

never count out detroit. Montreal is pretty happening too, if huet can be just a bit more consistent.

Re: Stanley Cup Predictions

With the Peter Forsberg Trade to Nashville Predators going thru, I don't see how you can keep the Predators off the list of Stanley Cup predctions. Even before picking up Forsberg, the Preds had a good shot at making the finals. Now it's looking like those Tennessee hillbillys are the favorites

Nashville just scored Forsberg so I'm picking them.

I can't be the only one who's thinking that everyone is overestimating the impact Forsberg's going to have on the Predator's and the NHL playoff race, can I? I mean, it's not as though he had been anything great for Philly this season.

Re: 2007 Playoffs

No, I agree. Forsberg is too injury prone, and injury ridden. But he might add something to talent that exists in nashville already. Will he make the playoff difference? I doubt it. if nashville does it all this season, it won't be because of Forsberg.

I agree, Peter the Great adds an extra spark to a good team...

Now, where is Columbus in all this?...I mean it could be our year...it could...

Re: 2007 Playoffs

I would go with jersey, buffalo, nashville, detroit, ducks as contenders
But who saw edmonton last year? there's always got to be a dark horse.

Is anyone going to make any predictions like any trees? Just curious.

Re: 2007 Playoffs

Overrating the Forsberg to Nashville? How about overrating Nashville? Don't get me wrong. They are a good team, but they are very beatable. Just look at their past couple games. I'm just saying. I'd still pick them to go deep into the playoffs and possibly represent the West in the Stanley Cup.

My pick for the East? My Pittsburgh Penguins, of course. After today's win against the Capitals, we're 14-0-2 in our last 16 games and have sole possession of 4th place and only 5 points behind the Devils for the division.

Re: 2007 Playoffs

Yeah the Leafs have been doing well, on a great streak - the only team to do better lately is the Penguins.
They could be the dark horse. But they are mostly young still. Disadvantage?

As hot as they are and with Luongo in net, how could you count them out?
