Though Stanford Coach Jim Harbaugh wasn't ready to make it official Tuesday, all indications are that Tavita Pritchard will start at quarterback in the season opener Aug. 28 against Oregon State.
Pritchard took the bulk of the snaps Tuesday, throwing touchdown passes of 37 yards to Doug Baldwin and 24 yards to Ryan Whalen. Harbaugh said he "pretty much" knows who will start, "but I'm going to still wait a few more days before I announce anything."
Other news out of Stanford camp wasn't good. Starting safety Austin Yancy (hamstring) and standout freshman receiver Chris Owusu (knee) could be sidelined up to six weeks, Harbaugh said. Yancy's injury occurred a few days ago. Owusu, who was projected to be part of the receiver rotation, was injured Tuesday when his foot got caught in the grass after catching a pass during a scrimmage.
"He got hit as the foot was planted," Harbaugh said.
