The St. Louis Rams signed kicker Josh Brown to a five-year contract, the same day long-time Rams kicker Jeff Wilkins retired.
Brown, 28, has made 80 percent of his field goal attempts, including 13-of-22 from a distance of 50 or more yards. The Nebraska product has a career long of 58 yards, and has missed just one extra point

Article says he had "chronic leg and lower back woes." He kicked awful well for a guy with leg and back problems.

Rams said they had him as the #1 free agent available, regardless of position. That's pretty lofty praise. As for Brown, he told reporters, “St. Louis wasn’t even on the radar, and I got a call late Friday morning and was on a plane later that night... They just blew me away with their offer. I can’t tell you exactly how it feels to be received and wanted that way by a ballclub.”

I think I read Wilkins was a 14 year veteran. It must have been taking a lot out of him to kick with back and leg problems.

Seattle just plain old didnt work hard enough to keep Brown. They didnt seem to set a priority on making a deal with him. I think they will be very sorry.
Brown is darn reliable.

as a seahwks fan i feel betrayed. from what i heard the hawks offered him 14 mill over five years and the rams offered him 14.2 mill over five years. pretty much the same offer to me. leaving for .2 million to a team that finished in last place? i just dont get it

He says in an interview that he cares more about winning than money. But then why did he switch to the clearly worse team?

I won't say the Rams are that far behind, they have loads of talent and Seahawks have three RBs who I'm not sold and I'm not really liking their receiving core. The Rams aren't that far behind.

Their receiving core? They just lost one of their best, Bruce. And the hawks now have 4 RB's they signed Jones. But i think it will be 3 again once they cut either alex or maurice

Holt and Drew Bennett are very good and by 3 three running backs I'm not sold on I meant Duckett Junes and Alexander.
