After an unscheduled week off, Dave Pearson is back in the National Football League.
Pearson, the Brighton grad who was cut by the Detroit Lions last week, signed with the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday.
The Rams signed him and released Donovan Raiola, whose brother Dominic is the starting center for the Lions.
"I got a call on Friday, and my agent said they were going to bring me in Monday for a tryout," Pearson said Thursday between practices at the Rams practice facility in Earth City, Mo. "Monday morning, I flew out there, took a physical and worked out for the coaches and personnel people. I thought I did well.
"I flew back home after the workout, and when I got there, there was a message from my agent saying they wanted to sign me," Pearson continued. "So the next day I packed my stuff, put my affairs in order and flew back to St. Louis. I got there at 5 p.m. and I was at practice at 7."
