And now the St. Louis Rams find themselves slipping out of contention in the NFC West.

The Rams dropped another heartbreaker on Sunday, losing 24-22 to the Seattle Seahawks when kicker Josh Brown nailed a 38-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining in the game.

The lead changed hands three times in the final nine minutes of the game, first when Nate Burleson busted loose for a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown to make it 21-16 Seattle with 8:19 left.

So, with this tough loss, were is this team? Are the St. Louis Rams out of playoff contention already?

Out of playoff contention? Not yet. They still have plenty of time to sure up a wild card spot. They're just 4-5...three other teams are 4-5 (including San Fran) while four teams are 5-4.

The Rams need to end their four game losing streak for sure though.

With the Giants losing, the Rams had their chance to make a playoff run but blew it losing to the hapless Cardinals. George at St. Louis Rams rant says:
