ESPN confirms that baseball's top slugger was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained muscle on his right side.

This will definitely take a huge role in lowering his on-pace projections for the rest of the season! He will still (likely) finish with MVP-type numbers because of his brilliant start.

Just give wrap him the MVP now...still, the poor guy was on pace to challenge Hack Wilson's RBI record...a real though record if there ever was one...

This is just a horrible obstacle Albert Pujols must face as he plunges into the record books. I am sure that without a doubt, he will be a contender for an MLB Award and will likely finish his career in the Hall of Fame.

I know he's on the 15-day DL, but everyone's making it sound a lot worse. Has anyone heard a possible timetable for Pujols return yet? Will he be back by the All-Star break or later even?

On the local sports radio show this afternoon here in NYC, a fella from St. Louis called up and said people are talking around 6 weeks. And that's a worst case scenario.

I don't think Pujols will be ready in two weeks, you could be looking at at least a month before he's prepared to return.

It will be interesting to see if Cincinati can overtake St. Louis in the standings now that Albert Pujlos is out for a while.
