ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Albert Pujols became the fastest player in major league history to reach 19 home runs, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 9-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night. Pujols reached the milestone in his 37th game, beating Mickey Mantle in 1956 and Luis Gonzalez of the Diamondbacks in 2001, by three games. Pujols added RBI singles in the first and fourth, hiking his major league-leading total to 47, and flied out to the warning track in center field in the sixth. The man is keeping company with the Mick...and now that he is on my fantasy team...geez, I am hoping for +60 homers from the guy....anyone want to predict the final numbers here?

Re: Pujols fastests to 19 HRs I did read the other day that his back's starting to hurt him, though, so as nice as it would be to see him keep up this pace and maybe give Barry's single-season record a run, I have doubts that his health will allow it.

Re: Pujols fastests to 19 HRs Almost half of his hits are home runs! I cannot believe he is not being pitched around more. With that in mind, I predict 56 home runs and 130 RBI. Somehwere down the line, managers are going to start to treat him like Bonds of a couple years ago and make Edmonds and Rolens beat them instead.
