Mulder earns 100th win

Mulder allowed three runs in six innings to earn his 100th career victory yesterday. St. Louis nearly blew this one for him, but in the end the Cards pulled out a 7-6 victory over Florida. He's 100-51 lifetime now. About how many career wins do you see him getting when its all said and done?

Re: Mulder earns 100th win

Mulder won't be 30 until 2007. I see him winning about 225 before he is done, if he keeps his health. I always thought that of those three Oakland pitchers that Tim Hudson was the best of them, but he certainly has been up and down the last couple of years. Mulder should win at least 15 a year for the next few seasons.

Any chance he tops the 300 win mark, especially if the Cards stay good?

None whatsoever. The days of 300 wins are going going gone. 250 will be the new 300 in about 5-7 years.

Re: Mulder earns 100th win

I agree with the 250 being the new 300, but I don't think the 300s are over yet. Look at guys like Glavine, Maddux, Clemens, Johnson and Schilling. All having good seasons into their early 40s. Eventually there will be a consistent winner who will stay healthy majority of his career.

Mark Buehrle has a chance if the White Sox can stay competitive in the future. If he wins 15 this year, he'll be at 100 and he's 27. He's made 32+ starts each of the last 5 years.

I would think from time to time there will be a pitcher who stays away from the injury bug and last long enough to approach it.
