| LaRussa will be Cardinals winningest manager With just two more victories, Tony LaRussa will pass Red Schoendienst and become the St. Louis Cardinals all-time winningest manager. Schoendienst managed the team for 12 seasons and won 1,041 games. LaRussa is in his 12th season as we speak and is just one victory away from tying the record. "If he wants the job and wants me as his bench coach, he can have it tomorrow," La Russa told reporters recently. "I don't want to pass him.
