| LaRussa's last season? According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "Speculation has run amok that La Russa won't be back next year. Some have expressed the theory that the various downsides of the season have worn La Russa to the point that he has lost his verve for the job. La Russa said that is not so." So the Cardinals skipper is denying it. Think there's any truth to these rumors?

| Re: LaRussa's last season? The rumor mill is heating up again on this topic. According to the Yahoo! Sports MLB Rumors page, "La Russa has declined often to talk specifically about his expiring contract and whether he wants to return to the St. Louis Cardinals for a 13th season. Both ownership and general manager Walt Jocketty have said they hope to re-sign La Russa, but he has deflected such overtures to the offseason... La Russa said he'll have to determine if the stresses of this season have frayed or weakened his relationship with his cornerstone players." Given the issues he had with Pujols over the All-Star Game, I wonder... La Russa may walk - Rumors - MLB - Yahoo! Sports |

| Re: LaRussa's last season? This is the proper and fair way for La Russa to look at this situation. Why make a snap judgement now that he may have to change at some later date. It's a whole lot easier to say no comment now than to say yes or no. The chances of them being in the playoffs is less than minimal and maybe this is his time to move on or just plain old retire. He will be 63 next month. Maybe he's tired or maybe he's had enough of the prima donna's. |
