| St. Louis Cardinals, 2006 World Series Champions The Cardinals defeated the Tigers in game 5 to win their first World Series since 1982...and their 10th championship ever. Timely hitting, good defense and great pitching led the Cardinals past the heavily favored Tigers.
Tony La Russa is back to being the mastermind he thinks he is, too.
Btw, the Cardinals of 06 will forever be known as the World Series Championship team with the fewest amount of wins during the regular season, 83, and just ducking into the post-season. But I guess it doesn't matter at all because they bombarded the Padres, upset the Mets and shut down their bats (with the help of some slumps) and just dominated the Tigers.
The underdog National League proved to be the better league this year...in the post-season.
Congratulations to all the Cardinal fans out there. |
