Albert Pujols MVP chances

Should Albert Pujols of the Cardinals win the MVP award? There's definitely a case to be made. Pujols was the driving force that helped St. Louis win the NL Central. He is the only player in baseball ranked in the top 3 in each of the three Triple Crown categories, finishing 3rd in the NL in batting average [.331], 2nd in home runs [49] and 2nd again in RBI [137]. So should Albert Pujols win the National League MVP award for 2006?

Re: Albert Pujols MVP chances

If I had a vote, I'd put in for Ryan Howard. I know the Phil's didn't make the playoffs and the Cardinals are the Central division champs...but still. Howard's season was phenomenal and without him the Phillies clearly wouldn't have even been close to sniffing the playoffs.

But in reality, you can't go wrong with either guy. Needless to say I think it's obvious nobody from New York will take the National League MVP award.
