Sprint car vs. Nationwide car

Hello All,

I hope that you are all well and in good spirits.

And a Happy 2008 to you all (...it's never too late to wish friends a Happy New Year in my book!!!).

Well, the NASCAR coverage gets ever better over in this neck of the woods....we now get the Nationwide series as well.

Are the Nationwide cars the same spec as the Sprint Cup cars?

If not, could someone outline the differences for me please.

Ty.

Re: Sprint car vs. Nationwide car

That's a great resource, PB.

I'll just add the frontal area (aero) is quite a bit different which, has a tremendous influence on the car's ability to cut thru the air. The COT/CON uses more hp to push thru the air at a given speed than the Nationwide cars (much like the difference between a family sedan and a sports car.)

the extra 100 hp and 600 rpm are where the significant increase in cost of the engines are. the extra 50 lbs of weight suck a couple hp plus, the longer wheelbase (and extra weight) is harder to turn than the shorter (lighter) wheelbase, though it's more stable at speed on straights.

Hope that answers your questions and gives you a bit more insight on why the 2 cars have such different characteristics and speeds.

And Happy 2008 to you also! Glad to see you back.

Re: Sprint car vs. Nationwide car

Welcome back, Stu. It's good to see your smiling print again.

Help. My wife and I are coming to Dublin in September. We'll be doing the typical "Yanqui Tourist" thing. Can you give any tips to enhance our trip? (Besides not spending a lot of time in the Temple Bar District?)
