| End Of Racing At The Milwaukee Mile ? Yikes.... Could this be the end for the historic Milwaukee Mile ?
Debts are piling up and debtors have gone public.
At the core of the issue is that 'The Mile' owes NASCAR a tidy sum....
How much you ask ?
According to the Journal Sentinel, "NASCAR states that Wisconsin Motorsports, the race promoter at the Mile, owes it $1,878,228 for the two races NASCAR sanctioned earlier this month."But it gets worse.
Apparently the IRL IndyCar series is owed money as well.
With IndyCar fees typically around $1 million, 'The Mile' could owe a total of nearly $3 million.
According to a story in the Indianapolis Star, the IndyCar series is 'working on a payment plan' for the track. PaddockTalk Perspective What a sad series of events. The grandstands were packed favorably for all three events, but apparently the new promoters were honoring tickets sold by the old promoters, and thus didn't get much benefit from the strong outings.
As for the future of the track, we'd hate to see it go away. It's always held some of the best racing for open-wheel style cars.
But then, the rumors insist that Brazil has come calling with megabucks.
