Master Joey

Did anyone else notice that, as of this week's results, Master Joey is leading Junior slightly and Harvick by a bunch, in the points race? Wow! What a difference a year makes, eh?

Re: Master Joey

I gotta weigh in on this, I give Sourdough credit for making a massive improvement since the beginning of the year (although the "panic acceleration into the wall in the 500 was priceless), but to even put him in the same category as Jr and Harvick is a joke. Sourdough has 1 win that came not as a result of driving prowess, but as a result of having Zippy as a crew chief. Harvick has had an off year, Jr at least has a history to fall back on (which he has to right now, because this is the season that can't end fast enough).

Please, Please, PLEASE tell me this was just a joke Bob. Like I said, major improvements, yes. Sliced bread? Not so much.

History?? Indeed. With 3 wins in the last five years, I'd say history is a good thing to call it.

I'm no Lagano fan, but your sourdough reference shows your clear disdain for him.

Give the boy some credit. I look forward to seeing how he runs the balance of the year. If he finishes ahead of Jr over a season, is that luck?

I think not. I would say a seasons worth of racing is a pretty good indicator of talent, combined with a great team.

I should have entitled this thread "Stirring the Pot?"

MIke... Think "irony." I never placed him in the same class, just noted that he was ahead of them in points. I found it ironical, that's all.

So what happens when he's ahead of them at the end of this season...and again next season, and again in 2011?

It moves out of the realm of irony into the realm of fact? Plus, by 2012 he'll be an adult and be old enough to race Cup.

Was in reference to someones list of how to 'fix' nascar

Pretty sure there was a minimum age limit of 25...

Thar was probably my list, but, I did say it rather tongue-in-cheek.

However I believe fervently that 21 could be the minimum age for a Cup driver. I just don't see a 18-19 year-old kid as being a good year-long representative of a sport with the stature NA__AR attempts to have, if such a kid should win a championship, which Master Joey might well have a reasonable expectation of doing next season.

But, that's just me and I'm a practicing curmudgeon.

Re: Master Joey

While I was at the race there was a group of about 4 12 year old girls and one of them announced she was a Joey fan. Before I could laugh out loud she stated cause he was cute. Ugh what are kids smoking these days.
