If you look under the hood no single man in NASCAR history has had a bigger impact on the way it is. |

I proposed that the first couple of selection years NA__AR devote 80% of the selections to the era beginning with 1948 until 1960. Make it a mix of drivers, mechanics and owners. Have a special selection, above and beyond the designated five, for those who contributed significantly off the track, Ralph Seagrave, Bill France Sr., Cannonball Baker, Clay Earles, Zack Mosley (who gave NASCAR its first nationwide coverage), Harold Brasington, etc., etc. Because of my above I have a little trouble with people like Childress, Cale, Benny Parsons, DW, Bill Jr. (Personally, I don't think he should ever have a place in the Hall of Fame), Dale Sr. Bobby Allison and Richie Evans on the initial induction list. They all had their moments of glory post 1970. But those are just my thoughts...
