Also has an all star win. Not sure if that was mentioned. He also ran a nationwide team succesfully for a number of years out of the shop at his house before he moved to cup ownership.

Also he has a sense of NASCAR history. There are a fair number of drivers today who have appreciation or knowledge of NASCAR history of what happened before they showed up.

I hope that he stays in the car. But the likelyhood of it is just not there. I just hope that is last ride is a good one.

I bet if Truex takes the #55 Mikey finds a sponsor or just sticks NAPA/Aarons on the car for next years Daytona for a one time deal. Even if you don't like him I wouldn't bet against him on a plate track. Team is already there and you take another teams backup car so it wouldn't be a huge investment....maybe.

I think the talk was Truex would drive a #56 NAPA car and Mikey would run 10 races (all 4 Superspeedways and 6 others would be my guess) in a #55 NAPA car.

I'm a fan of his too. But I do think it's time for him to concentrate on the ownership side.Besides, maybe he'll still drive a few races each year.

Why thanks Bob. I will try and hang out a bit more often and attempt at being more upbeat about the current status of Cup/Na$car, although that may be a real challenge for an old-schooler like myself.
