| Mayfield denies taking drugs Mayfield denies taking drugs: Suspended NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield denies ever taking methamphetamines and says he doesn't know how he failed a random drug test. Mayfield's denial is found in an affidavit that is among several hundred pages of documents filed Thursday by his attorneys in U.S. District Court. The driver was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR on May 9 for failing a random drug test conducted eight days earlier at Richmond International Raceway. He is suing NASCAR for immediate reinstatement, and his next court date is July 1. NASCAR is countersuing and alleges Mayfield breached his contract and defrauded NASCAR and its competitors of earnings.(Associated Press)(6-26-2009) |

| Re: Mayfield denies taking drugs He's done for. He'll never get a license from NASCAR after he sued them unless a judge orders them too. Then if a judge orders NASCAR to give him a license he'll never pass tech to get on the track - assuming he finds someone stupid enough to back him to get into a car. He was offered a chance to go to rehab etc....if he thought it was a false positive he should have said so then and took rehab and offered up to mandatory drug testing and then took the negatives (if that's what he got) back and said look at these. Once you sue the sanctioning bodies you are done for. |

| Re: Mayfield denies taking drugs I don't remember why he left Kranefus, but he left Penske and it was all Penske's fault. Then he left Evernham and it was all Ray's fault. Then it was Bill Davis and again it wasn't his fault. Now it's NA__AR and it's somehow NA__AR's fault. Does anyone but me detect a trend here?

| Re: Mayfield denies taking drugs On the radio today it was announced his sponsors are refusing to sponsor him even if he gets a license by court order. Also said Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson and Robby Gordon had signed deals saying they won't race with him. |

| Re: Mayfield denies taking drugs The same reason drunks drink and addicts take dope; it makes them feel different. |

Addicts don't care. I've seen people that spend their last few dollars to buy drugs instead of getting food. |

| Re: Mayfield denies taking drugs Based on a lot of time dealing with addicts and people who exhibit compulsive behaviour, may I give you some advice? DO NOT try and equate how your, a non-addicted person's, thought processes work compared to that of someone who's addicted. Unless you're a self-centered narcissist or a stone solid sociopath, you just can't relate. They operate in a totally different plane than the rest of us. |

Some of them do get smart and give it up though. |
