| DW's "Bromance" With Kyle Busch...and a Response This from DW: Well folks, Kyle Busch was certainly a rich man Saturday night at Richmond. He was the birthday boy, too, celebrating his 24th that same night. He's pretty much got the NASCAR world wrapped around his finger right now. To get a big win like that on your birthday ... well, I just don't know if it gets any better than that. In my mind, it's phenomenal what we are seeing from Rowdy Busch right now. You simply have to give the guy his due. I appreciate talent: I saw Dale Earnhardt when he was at his best; I saw Richard Petty, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison and Jeff Gordon all when they were at their best. I raced against them when they were at their best, so trust me when I say I know talent. I have to tell you, though: None of them were as good as Kyle. The question now being asked is if he can win 200 races. He can. He has said that's the goal he wants to accomplish in his NASCAR career, winning 200 combined races in Cup, Nationwide and the Camping World Truck series. Back in the day, when Richard was winning all those races, he really was doing the same thing. When the series would go on the northern tour for a couple of weeks, they would run something like 14 races both on dirt and on asphalt on little half-mile tracks. They would run 100- to 150-mile races. Now folks, this isn't a knock on The King, but Kyle winning the kind of races he is right now is more impressive to me than what anybody has done. Compare the quality of Kyle's wins to the quality of everybody else's from the past, and his are far and away a lot more impressive. How long can he keep this up? Well, he just turned 24, so he could easily drive 25 more years if he wanted to. There's an opportunity here for him to set a lot of records — money, wins and championships. I am just glad I am around to see this. I will say this again, back in the late '70s and early '80s when Dale Sr. was still a little rough around the edges, I would have paid to see that man race. Now, some 30 years later, I say the same thing about this phenomenon we call Kyle Busch. If Kyle were here in Nashville and going to race at the Fairgrounds, you bet I would buy a ticket to watch him. He's just that impressive — and again, he's just that good. FOX Sports on MSN - AllWaltrip.com - If I were a rich man ...... And a response from Phil Allaway at Frontstretch.com: I’m also concerned with Darrell Waltrip’s apparent crushing over Kyle Busch. This was described during the Live Blog as a “bromance,” kind of like that horrible reality show on MTV starring Brody Jenner. Wikipedia defines a bromance as a “close, but non-sexual relationship between two men, a form of ‘homosocial intimacy’.” Seriously. I essentially copied that right off of there. On broadcasts, this manifests itself as Darrell constantly gushing over Kyle Busch’s abilities as a driver. I’ll admit right here that this is getting annoying. We know Kyle Busch is good. Anyone who has watched NASCAR races over the past year and change knows that already. Darrell, you don’t need to essentially “pimp” Kyle Busch on us fans. We know his accomplishments by now. Some of us are drawn to the younger Busch’s brash personality, while others are turned off by his petulance. I’m in the latter camp. Remember, you are a TV commentator. You are supposed to be objective, and not play favorites. I’ve mentioned this in the past in regards to your brother Michael. As much as you want to, you cannot give special treatment to your brother, or to Kyle Busch. The other drivers deserve equal treatment as well. | Re: DW's "Bromance" With Kyle Busch...and a Response I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or feel totally sorry for DW. First of all, isn't anyone else offended that we need someone to "tell" us what talent is? Yes, Kyle is talented, even very talented. But 200 wins, I don't see it happening. At some point this 24 year old will get a fear of his car, a healthy fear, but a fear none the less. Right now he drives the wheels off anything, the looser the better. Has he had a horrific scary crash? Anyone remember? But as Bob says I could be wrong. I think as we age the invincible feelings wane, we become more cautious. But hey this is just my opinion. DW chill, we have no desire to hear your hard on for any driver. I don't think there has been any other year until now, where I can't wait for Fox to be done.

Re: DW's "Bromance" With Kyle Busch...and a Response Well, alot of people used to hate D.W. And now, alot of folks hate Kyle. Maybe D.W. feels some sort of a kindship with the Shrub. But I still don't like the Baby Busch. I don't care what kind of P.R. is done in his behalf.

Re: DW's "Bromance" With Kyle Busch...and a Response I think he's like that little weasel in middle school or jr.high that used to say na-na you can't catch me then when you catch him and beat the crap out of him he would cry to the whole world trying to get them to feel sorry for him.I don't like him.

Re: DW's "Bromance" With Kyle Busch...and a Response Well it goes to show if you are winning races, you get lots of press. Kyle Busch is one of the biggest stories in NASCAR so get used to it. The kid can race and its great fun to see him race. I have to admit I really like when he messes up and walks away in a huff, but you gotta give him credit, he's got talent and says what he feels. Why do NASCAR fans hate on winners. They used to hate DW, they used to (and many still do) hate Jeff Gordon, and now shrub. Does anything make you people happy?

As far as your last sentence... We should just quietly sit by and dutifully accept everything we dislike? Maybe some can but I refuse to.

Re: DW's "Bromance" With Kyle Busch...and a Response USED TO ???? Face it, DW is to announcing as Tiger Woods is to baseball. When he was driving he acted like a 12 year old when he won a race. When he's announcing (if you feel that is what he does) he falls all over a selected group of drivers, and I use that as a very generic term. Sorry but there are plenty of good announcers out there that could and should replace him. I keep hoping each week that he has a cold and must stay home.
