Local Track Forums !!!

In our never ending quest to increase membership the thought popped up that it might be possible for us to try and link up with some of the local tracks across America. Sound like a big undertaking ???? Maybe ... maybe not.

I was recently looking at a website for a local track near me and noticed that they have a "Links" page. I got to thinking that maybe we could trade links with them. I passed my thoughts on to Ducky for his opinion and he added that maybe we could swap links but make a forum for Local tracks and give each track its own sub-forum where their news could be posted. The thought is that if they have a venue where they could post their results and news of their track that it might be beneficial to all of us. They get some national exposure, we get new members and we both get some free advertising.

If you frequent your local track and they have a website would you be interested in contacting them with this idea or at least get one of the staff here at GTG and address to email to and make a proposal to them.

Thoughts and opinions ???

You people never stop dreaming bigger things do you? I love the idea and would love to see it work out. I've got a few tracks around me that have big things planned for the coming season and I'm sure they'd love to spread the word. I'm willing to help out anyway possible.

I emailed Groveton but if you know anyone there you might get better results.

I go to Greenville Pickens Speeday, in the Upstate of South Carolina. And I just went on Google; and sure enough the web site was greenvillepickens.com. That was simple enough.

Re: Local Track Forums !!!

I was supposed to go chat with my old friend, the owner (I still remember her as a tyke running around the now closed Austin Speed-o-rama back when my brother was driving I'm one of the few around who can say that) at our local track, Thunderhill Raceway, this past weekend at their season opening show. But the Duck has been trying (unsuccessfully) to catch a cold for the past month and decided not to go sit on a aluminum seatfor half the night in 50 degree weather with high humidity and the wind blowing. So he did the next best thing, he emailed his other buddy (the PR director for the track) who's an ex-admin at the local racing forum (Lone Star Speedzone.)

But, all the fun isn't just for us that "know" somebody, if you regularly go to a track, just talk to someone (or email) who seems to be in charge. If they act even a little interested, you can hand them off to LSC or myself and we'll take it from there, if you don't want to.

Re: Local Track Forums !!!

I planned on talking to the owners of our local dirt track last weekend, which was opening weekend for us, but both Friday and Saturday nights races were canceled due to weather. So we didn't go.

Our next races won't be until March 27 & 28, when we'll have the O'Reilly Spring Nationals - Lucas Oil ASCS Outlaw Sprints National Tour come to town with Champ Sprints and Limited Modified running on Friday, and USA Modifieds and Pro Stocks on Saturday.

Here's a link to the State Fair Speedway schedule this year...

http://www.statefairspeedway.com/200...%202-24-09.pdf

I'll talk to them then and see if they'll go for it, since they have a links page on their website.

Good deal. I've written to a couple of them but it is still early for racing up here in this part of the north. Hopefully we can convince a few and that might get more on board. Keep us informed and let us know what we can do to help.

Re: Local Track Forums !!!

What would one say to the tracks rep? Is this asking for advertising space on a wall or in the tracks program? Does GTG pay for advertising?
So many questions in my cluttered mind and not enough sense to organize it. Every time I get my "stuff" together I step in it with both feet! At least I never quit. That takes too much effort to start again so its easier to keep on truckin.

Re: Local Track Forums !!!

I got a semi-response from my local track .. the media director thinks it's a good deal and she's all for it, but they have just contracted with the local (Texas) racing forum to administer the track website which they will be selling advertising for, so she doesn't know how it would go over with them. She's forwarded my email to them for their consideration. I'll see her today at the track so will bug her about it.

This is the approach I used (with no luck so far !!!). Basically I told them that we are a national sports forum that has a very active NASCAR Forum. I said that since they have a "LINKS" page maybe we could trade links and we would offer up space for them to have a forum dedicated to their track. They could post news and results that would lead to discussion and in return we would only ask that they put a link to our site on their "LINKS" page. All in all it is beneficial to all of us. When the folks at your local track look at the "LINKS" page they see us and then find their local track forum. Simply put ... we get new members.

we don't have any borders here. local tracks are local to the member.

what tracks are near you? would you like to contact them to see if they'd like a spot on a world-wide sports talk board? just use LSC's approach posted a couple right above your post. then report back what they said. if it's a go, we'll handle the details and give you the kudos.
