OK team. Take a deep breath and review all the posts in this thread. I didn't see any name calling at all. If I have missed it please point it out to me and we'll deal with that via PM and not in the threads.

The next issue has always been and always will be. There are fans who are ardent driver fans. That is a wonderful thing. There are fans who hate specific drivers, teams, vehicle brands and probably even certain sponsors. This to is good ... I suppose, although I, personally, don't see it.

One thing that we do here at GTG is encourage OPINIONS. That is the basis of most discussions. If you cannot deal with opposing opinions then maybe you need to not visit particular threads. There are a couple of subjects that I flat out stay away from because I am to opinionated about them. Much easier on me and everyone else if I just move on to a thread I can deal with and hopefully add to as I post.

If you ever feel as though you have been flamed here at GTG then by all means contact a moderator or an admin. We do not take it lightly and we also prefer that it does not take over any discussions.

I am with you LSC unlike you I "even if it gets under my skin" can't help my self I steel read the threads that bother me. But back to the discussion at hand. I am a Jr. fan and I was a DEI fan I don't wish Teresa any ill will and don't want DEI to go under. But It does look as if they will die out on there own.

I'm sick and tired of all of the sterotyping and personal attacks on Earnhardt Jr. fans. Hay Grim sounds like there may be a festering splinter in there. But that's OK I am a Jr. fan and like you I have got tired of people lumping all Jr. fans in together. But let me give you a glimpse into some of the knowledge I have learned sense I have been on GTG. The people here on GTG are good people. I don't remember any of the regular people making personal attacks on other posters But any Driver,team,series,or people connected to NA$CAR or its affiliates are fare game. As for the term "NATION" it does only imply that Jr. fan base is the largest and large enough to be a Nation of it's own.

More bad news for EGR. This from Jayski's this morning:

EGR cuts more jobs: And while this wasn’t officially on the Media Tour, Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing cut another 40 jobs on Monday, making it a virtual certainty that the time won’t field more than two full-time cars next year.

So, this means EGR will not field the #8 car at Daytona? We'll have to wait for the Daytona entry list updates.

Well it's been updated again. EGR plans to field 4 cars at Daytona, 3 for the year. I got a thread about it....

I may have answered my own question. Here's EGR's announcement this afternoon after they had been questioned about the earlier report of layoffs.

Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates confirmed late Tuesday that it will campaign full-time Chevy for Juan Pablo Montoya, Martin Truex Jr. and Aric Almirola in 2009, with a fourth car entered for the Daytona 500. No sponsor has been announced for Almirola’s #8 car, nor has a driver been picked for the fourth car [the #41], according to EGR President Steve Lauletta, who gave an impromptu press briefing late Tuesday during the Sprint Cup Media Tour Presented by Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Target will sponsor Montoya in the #42, with former co-primary Wrigley’s taking on a role as associate sponsor, Lauletta said. Bass Pros Shops will sponsor the #1 of Truex. “We kind of get the best of both worlds putting our 20-year relationship with Target on Juan. He won the Indy 500 with them before and then Wrigley’s can still continue to do their NASCAR programming around Juan and remain with the team.” As far as Almirola’s car, Lauletta said, “We haven’t announced sponsorship programming for that, but we will here pretty soon. And then our plan is to run a fourth car at the Daytona 500. We’re working on some opportunities with that, and again we’ll announce that at a later date.” With the fourth car, its future is contingent on sponsorship. “If we can continue to run the fourth car past Daytona, we’re going to attempt to do that,” said Lauletta. “But as of right now, the plan is Daytona.”
