Had an OK day with 290 points, even though I was at a disadvantage of sorts. I had to fly back to Georgia for my aunt's memorial service last Thursday morning, then drive to Alabama to put her ashes in the ground. So I had to make my picks on Wednesday night before I left, and never had a chance to change them. I didn't get back here to OKC until 2300 last night, so I never saw qualifying or the race.

But WOW, did Smokin14 have a good day. He picked the top 3 finishers and finished with 371 points. That's huge! Congrats. Dropped me to 2nd for the summer, but I managed to stay 2nd for the season.

I wish I wouldn't have had access to a comp so I didn't change my picks. Swapped Carpentier in for Ambrose and Harvick in for Gordon, mostly to save starts. Turned out alright, but woulda had all 4 in the top 10 had I left it alone. Harvick was headin for a decent finish until that cut tire

It's race day, and I got my picks locked in. Felling pretty good about 'em this week. Hopefully the weather in Loudon will cooperate and they'll run good. I'm headed over to a friends house for a cookout and the race, so I'll see ya'll later. Good luck to everybody.

What a bummer of a day. At the last minute, I benched Brad Keselowski for Marcus Ambrose. Bad mistake. From now on, I'm gonna keep with my first instinct. Then...I thought I had 3 good runs going until Shrub took Martin Truex, Jr out of the race...
Oh well, at least JJ and the Blue Deuce kept me in the game. So all was not lost.

I really need to start doing this as well. My last month has been terrible. Although most of the month has been using guys I normally wouldn't to conserve starts for others.

That's a good idea. Last year I saved Smoke until about this time, and it payed off pretty well. For some reason though, I've already used him up and I get the feeling I'm gonna pay for that.

So now we have Daytona on a Saturday night. So don't forget to pick your 8 drivers before 4:00 CDT tomorrow morning. And good luck with this one. Instead of calling this race the Coke Zero 400, it should be the Rain-X Crap Shoot 400.

I think I've only used Jimmie once so far...I'm sure I'll burn Tony up through July/Aug. I think Logano and Junior will both have strong finishes, so they'll probably be used quite a bit down the stretch.

I've tried to save a few Ambrose starts lately as well since he seems to be the best bet in the final group.

I've had the luxury of a 200-300 point lead for the last month (in my $$$ league, not on here), so I've been able to get away with poor performances to save starts.

Getting closer to green flag time and more importantly close to the 1900 CDT deadline to pick my team. Quite honestly, I have no idea who to go with. These races are such a crap shoot. I guess I should stay with my first choices for my final team. But...

Exactly, that's why I went with good driver that I don't normally pick.

Already used Tony up this year, which was not smart thinking on my part. I've pretty much decided to lock Kyle in as my "A" list driver. It's my "B" list that's troubling me. But like you say, whoever I pick will either do great or wreck. That's the way it goes with these nail biting restrictor plate races.

Well...lock times aren't in yet but I'll say who I am going with anyway! A=Kevin Harvick (long shot but I mean...if this guy will win anywhere this season...it is a plate race), B=Casey Mears (always good plate racer for some reason) B2=Newman (Had Mears locked all week but wasn't sure about Newman,Jr,or McMurray so went with Newman by doing mini minny mo) C=Robby Gordon (has great finishes at plate races!

I think I got a good team but I mean..."The Big One" can happen anywhere...and it is just a matter of time b4 it occurs! This is gonna be a nail biting race and like most Daytonas...you don't know who has a chance untill the last 2 laps then you are still down to 10-15 competitors, so get ready to go racin!

Ok, I'm sticking with my first impressions for my team:

A: Kyle Busch
B: Ryan Newman
B: Junior
C: Brad Keselowski

So there it is. Going out on a limb with 2 of those I think, Junior and Brad, but what the heck. All I can do now is watch the race, and pace the floor for 160 laps around Daytona.

I woulda had Kyle Busch and then my 2 B group and 1 C group all in the top 7, if I wouldn't have changed my picks Thursday night.
