It will always be two different eras when you compare great drivers. They just don't come along very often which the statisics prove. The Evernham era was certainly Gordons best years but I don't think it was all Evernham. If it were then Evernham would be on the top of the pile and after hearing about Mayfields issues I'm not sure that everything is happy in the pits with those teams. Like many other good teams it is real possible that the right mix just isn't there for Gordon and until they hit upon the right mix they will not be dominate. Domination may well be a thing of the past with the advent of the COT. That will level out the playing field even more next year. I also am of the belief that the "Chase" is having an adverse effect on racing today. They seem to be spending more time fighting for a top ten spot than they are for the actual championship. It is slowly becoming WWF on wheels.

To add my final 2 cents, I will once again bring up the good ole days of Nascar (in my opinon that is from around 1968 to about 2000). I like that Nascar did nothing. If they are that mad at each other, settle it outside the track instead of whine.

I know Nascar will never allow fighting in public like back in the old days, BUT they could have a second "Big Red Truck" like the one the drivers get called into for a tongue lashing after the race. Have the second one be padded, with no windows, and let the drivers (Like Smoke and Carl last week) go inside and beat the hell out of each other if they want to. A couple of times of that and I think people would calm down.

This isn't directed at you per se...

It strikes me as funny that Jeff Gordon fans always try comparing him to Big E or other truly great drivers when trying to talk up their driver. If Gordon can't stand on his own right, then all the comparisons in the world aren't going to change anybody's mind.

Gordon is a talented driver, but also the biggest whiniest cry baby on the circuit. Sr. was also a talented driver however, he brought a heck of a lot more than that to the game.

Tell us something good about Jeffy without having to compare him with others.

That is exactly what I was talking about. Yes, he's won 4 championships, and working on his 5th (Now that's debatable). The rest is about how likeable, honest, etc., the driver is. I personally can't stand Jeffy, LOL

I just dont see what so horrible about him, whys so horrible that people would hate em for. Yeah maybe his not perfect for everyone in the world but who ever said he needed to be. Let 'em be. hate 'em cause he killed someone or cause he doesnt care about his fans but hate him cause he acts arogant or because he wins to much, I think thats a bit ignorant. He never praises himself he always gives all the credit to his team. When did Jeff dishonest his fans??? MANY say thats he's a really good guy, he donates thousands of dollars to charity. I just dont get it. I just think the new fans who dont know much about NASCAR, Earnhardt fans just think its COOOL to hate Jeff cause they other fans hate him too and with the older fans are just jelous cause whil their Driver sucks Jeff is winning all the time.

He's a great driver, one of the best NASCARS ever seen. He's extremely generous. He takes care of his fans, does ALOT of apperances so fans can met him. He's still as good as he ever was talent wise. He's honest when talking about other drivers. List goes on and on.

See thats what most Gordon haters do, call cheap shots. Most cant really say anything abut about him besides he whines(even though all driver do it) and he wrecks to many people (even though he's ony wrecked two guys this year).

Here's a little story for u DuPont... I work on an Internet website (PLUG Blinds at Wallpaper Wholesaler: Wallpaper Borders, Shades, Window Blinds, Fabric) and we get online inquiries from ppl looking for that certain wallpaper pattern all the time. Well, I am in the Commercial Wallpaper Dept. & I get this online inquiry from Jeanette and she signs under her name Jeff Gordon Inc and her phone number. Well me being me, I put on my "I'm working now hat" and call her. Screw the wallpaper, "may I ask you, are you with Jeff Gordon as in the #24?" Yes she replied.

Here's the funny part, this was 2 days after Gordo gets fined for shoving my Mattie ...

I honestly told her I was a Kenseth fan and we had a girly laugh or 2 over that. Turns out she has been Gordo's secretary for over 10 years... we chatted about the "current contraversy"..and then she started telling me how much of a NICE GUY Gordo really is.

So my point is...he must really be a nice person (& I do believe he is).

You know when u watch a movie, like Animal House, and there a bunch of preppy's named Biff and Chaz. Well that's who Jeff Gordon reminds me of. The nice guy u just can't help but hate. He's "The Chaz" of Nascar

PS...Jeanette did not buy any wallpaper from me either, so Gordo double sucks!
