Jeff admitted that "he just wanted to bump him(Kenseth) up the track a bit". There was another car to the right of Kenseth, so wouldn't one consider this rough driving. Being that Gordon was on probation, I would think he should have been immediately penalized.

Assuming the officials didn't have enough time or information at the time to make a quick decision, isn't there a post race investigation and penalty if Gordon was found to be recklass??

Or am I assuming NASCAR is an organization that is actually somwhat sophisticated?

Jeff isn't the only one to be put on probation. How many times has Tony Stewart been put on probation? Kurt Busch is another one.

I realize that indygirl, but he is one that can be on probation and still do as he pleases with no consequenses. A couple of years ago, Kevin Harvick had to sit out a Cup race because what he did after a truck race. That will get a drivers attention, instead of these bogus probation periods. There are definate double-standards in Nascar these days.

NASCAR will not take points out for something like that, if that was the case Tony Stewart would have 0 Championships and best points finish probably a 20th

Thank goodness you didn't say he will NEVER win 7 championships. You may have to eat those words. I'll say againthat I am no Gordon fan but here is some info to mull over.

1.) Gordon was 22 years old when he was Rookie of the year. Earnhardt was 28.

2.) Gordon was 24 when he won his 1st Championship. Earnhardt was 29.

3.) Gordon was 30 when he won his 4th Championship. Earnhardt was 39.

4.) Gordon has had 54 poles. Earnhardt had 22.

Again I am no Gordon fan and I will never defend any bump & run driver, but he does have the ability and a relatively better than average team ... no matter how they do it. Earnhardt also had a better than average team. My thought is that Gordon has a few more years before he is Dale's age at his death. In the course of the next 16 years I would ask if you think it is possible for Gordon to win 3 more championships to at least tie Dale and the King and is it possible to win 4 more?

Don't be to quick to say there is no way he will win 7 championships just because you don't like the person or team. Earnhardt wasn't always a fan favorite. People like him today because of his untimely death and what they later saw that he did for the sport. Facts loom much larger than opinions.

Earnhardt was never a strong qualifier, much like Kenseth, Stewart and a few other very good drivers. Gordon has ALWAYS strong at qualifying. Which has put him in the #1 pit stalls many times. Another reason for many of his wins. He would go in the pits 4th or 5th, and come out 1st or 2nd.

I've said it many times, his dominating days were with Ray Evernham.........now he is just another top contender, not the dominating car they once were. With the ultra stiff competition these days, I doubt he will see another 3 championships, but ya never know, especially when you have Nascar in your back pocket.

I would say he won't be able to ever get 7 championships. Not that his skills have ever declined, but because of the sheer number of good teams capable of winning compared to when he (for that matter Dale also) won titles.

Thats true, with the multy car teams getting bigger and the single car teams going to the way side, there is a lot more sharing of information between drivers. The cars are so close now and soon to be exact(car of tommorow) that you have to have a pit crew, pit box and a lucky decision of 2, 4 and just gas to decide the winner. I still say Gordon has a chance but it will be well earned.

you cannot possibly compare the two, entirely different eras, same with petty. For Gordon to have four is an amazing feat in itself.
