Re: Kurt Busch live at Barrett-Jackson

Smoke auctioned off one of his #20 Home Depot Chevys earlier this year at Barrett-Jackson and got $300,000 for it, to benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. That was a lot of fun to watch! I hope Kurt does just as good for his foundation and the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have the kind of bankroll required to have a NASCAR in my garage. just think about how much fun you could have waking up the neighbors.

surely you could mount some lights on it and make it street legal.

A friend of mine here in OKC, (Spencer, OK is a suburb of OKC) bought one of Dale's cars and keeps it in a garage he had built at his house. Occasionally he'll take it out and trailer it to events to show it off. But sometimes, he just cranks it up to wake up the neighborhood.

Last I talked to him, he was trying to sell it for $100,000. He found another of Dale's cars back in North Carolina that's certified with all the documentation from RCR, unlike the one he owns now.

Just sold for $85,000 including driver suit, helmet, gloves and shoes, as well as an all-expense-paid trip to the 2009 Daytona 500.

I got changed to it just in time to see them auction Robby and Kurt's cars. Pretty cool of Kurt to do that for Victory Junction.

Paint 55 on it, then take it out and drive it into a wall.

Re: Kurt Busch live at Barrett-Jackson

I was dissappointed by how much they went for. The should have gone for more. I don't remember how much Smokes car ending up going for in January but I believe it was a lot more. I believe it was Ron Pratt that bought the car. If anyone watched Barrett Jackson enough you know who Ron Pratt is. If a charitable lot is not generating a lot of money he will make an amazing bid to win and usually add $100,000 donation on top of it.

I kinda get the feeling that the Barrett Jackson crowd it too high dollar to be interested in buying a stock car. I believe one of Dale Sr's car's was there in January and it did not sell to well either.

Re: Kurt Busch live at Barrett-Jackson

Robby Gordon said he would make his COT car street legal if the winning bidder wanted him to. I thought that went pretty cheap (73k) since it costs over 100k to build one.

I would have expected a lot more, but I guess it's a sign of the times. Still though, $85,000 is a pretty good amount of money to go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

Smokes car went for $300,000. And when you add all the extra money that was given, the grand total raised for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation from the car was $495,00.

That was the same night, and it wasn't one of Dale's cars. It was a one-of-a-kind "Intimidator" Camaro built by Richard Childress. It sold for $575,000.
