Got tickets for the Texas race

Even tho I live in Texas I've never been to a Texas race because the spring race falls in Turkey season and the fall race falls on opening day of gun season for deer here in Texas. Being a wildlife biologist in Texas means that's pretty big busy time.

Anyway this year I have no conflict and picked up a pair of tickets for the Cup race.....

First time in my life I will not be sitting in the cheap seats. Drumrollllllll please....

Luxury suite tickets with catered meal for Sunday's race. LOL. Taking my dad who has never been to a NASCAR race.

Re: Got tickets for the Texas race

Hahah good one. He's pretty pumped. He's been to a ton of shortrack dirt races but nobody raced on asphalt where we're from so it's going to be his first asphalt race.

I normally attend Talledega every year in the fall but this year was the first no go for me in a very long time. It was getting to be to much of a hassle and to be honest some of the stuff going on out there wasn't my cup of tea. It's getting to be like Woodstock with a minor race thrown in.

He's used to coming home from races covered in dirt/mud/dust being in a luxury suite will be a cool change for him. Part birthday/part christmas present.

Re: Got tickets for the Texas race

Talladega is my absolute favorite kind of tea. but i can see how some might find it a little too strong for their tastes.

i'll be at the race in ATL next weekend. 30 dollar student tickets are hard to beat.

have fun. luxury boxes for the race are awesome- all you can eat and drink.

Re: Got tickets for the Texas race

I think you'll love Texas...it is by far my favorite track to attend races...lol my only tracks I've gone too. Still it has always been a blast!! The track is really awesome and the races have always been fun to watch in person. You can basically see the whole track from anywhere. Are you going to attend the Truck and NWS races as well? I went to the first fall race there a few years back, but I mostly go to the spring race. The fall race was my favorite because it starts late day and finishes under the lights. If I were you I'd try to get my hands on some Truck tickets and NW tix if you haven't already. Even the cheapest you find should still be a good view.

Friday is the best day of them all. It starts early morning with practice, then qualifing to finally finish at 11pm with the truck race. Saturday is kind of boring...some cup practice than the NW race. Even though there is only the Cup race on Sunday it is still magical. Show up to the track at 8 or 9am and wait it out until the race starts at 3. By time the checkers fall the sun will be set and the fireworks will be launched.

Have fun, because I know you will!!

Re: Got tickets for the Texas race

Just the cup race. I actually rather attend a nationwide race but it's still a busy weekend state wide and I can't be there.

Gosh Bob, it is my birthday (really) and I'd be honored to sit with you and your dad

It's been a while since I was there last (about 9-10 years), but, like Jeffery it's one of my favorites too! Gossage learned his craft well at the foot of Humpy, so it's always a great show.

You've got to take pix and post'em, though.

You've got a lucky dad. I know that you will both have a great time. BTW, I concur with you on your view of Talladega. I was otherwise engaged when Woodstock came about but, from the film, I can see a resemblance.

Anyway, both of you enjoy the race. I hope that it's a good one. (Texas usually is a cut above so that shouldn't be a problem)

Re: Got tickets for the Texas race

I know you'll have a good time with your dad.

I really like Texas. Easy to get around and like someone said, you can pretty much see the whole track from anywhere. I do like the fall race for the very reason they want the date moved. Opening weekend of deer season, which means the crowd at the track isn't as big. Suits me just fine.
