| NASCAR got it right -- and it's time to move on, folks I don't like Cross. He's a card carryin "I say whatever the bosses tell me to say so I can keep my job because I can't make it anywhere else" person. This article proves it. Just a tidbit of it NASCAR, for all its faults (real and imagined), got it right. And for those who e-mailed before the dust had settled at Talladega, the knee-jerk reactions --generally something for which NASCAR gets raked across the coals -- were not becoming. Couple things here: • Regan Smith chose to drive below the yellow line. The left side of his No. 01 -- not the entire car -- was out of bounds before the blocking maneuver was made by Tony Stewart. • Stewart did not force Smith below the yellow line; he chose to stay there, ultimately wheeling his entire car out of bounds. • Smith did have the opportunity to lift off the throttle, ride along side Stewart and keep his spot in second place (thus avoiding the penalty of being placed at the end of the lead lap). In the end, NASCAR made the post-checkered flag judgment that Stewart won the race and Smith was relegated to 18th place (the last car on the lead lap). And NASCAR got it right. But, he is right in one respect. It's a done deal and it's time to move on. But, Señor Cross and NA__AR would prefer that as soon as we move on, we forget about the episode and give three cheers for NA__AR. NOT! It'll be filed away in the memory banks, to be trotted aout again when one of the NA__AR Establishment pulls the same thing and, "At NASCAR's Discreation," they decide in The Chosen One's favor. It's just NA__AR being NA__AR (bless their hearts).

| Re: NASCAR got it right -- and it's time to move on, folks Oh darn! I should have read this thread first because I just posted to the other one talking about the yellow line! I guess this guy Cross is setting the pace for what is and isn't permissible to be discussed because of time constraints?!? Shoot, I figured we'd let this topic stew for another day or two anyway...

| Re: NASCAR got it right -- and it's time to move on, folks how did tony not block him? the 01 went high and was blocked then low and was blocked. i am a fan of neither of the guys but he had a fender and tony blocked him. like biff said "next time you will just see the entire field taken out on the last lap" |

| Re: NASCAR got it right -- and it's time to move on, folks If anything like that happened, can you imagine the number of seats sold, and the TV ratings for the next Talladega race? NA__AR would cry and moan about the carnage all the way to the bank. |
