Re: NASCAR's Youth Movement

I talk to DW often during the races. Not very much of what I say is real pretty and Ross would probably cut me off.

Ha ha, funny, LSC. Quality do you think the drivers can't hear the announcers or are they really ignoring him? Sometimes that happens to Benny/NBC too.

They are ignoring them. I know I would...... especially if it's Benny "Alzheimers" Parsons. I knew Terry was ignoring him cause that's how Terry is. He wants to be left alone during a race, especially if he is running well.

That was so cool if he was ignoring him. Geez, breaks the driver's concentration. I've always wondered about that, sometimes the announcers try to talk to the drivers when they're riding around during a caution and that irritates me. I always think of Steve Park and that bad accident where he almost died. Nothiing to do w/announcers but my point would be that they need to concentrate, even during a caution. I'm a big Park fan, but he hasn't done much since that. Won a truck race though!

I saw Park a couple of years ago at Kentucky racing trucks. He took over for Gaghn in the New Orleans truck. He finished 2nd I believe. It really sucked to, because he had a truck that would compete against Hamilton, but his pit crew was ☻☻☻☻☻☻ poor. He would get up to 2nd then a caution would come out. He would restart 6th or worse, then by the time he got back up to 2nd another caution would come out and he was screwed again by his pit crew.

Re: NASCAR's Youth Movement

When Park first came back he made me very nervous. His reaction time seemed slow, at least in respect to his speaking ability. I wonder how much effect that had on his actual driving skills? I remember when Bill Elliott got in an accident and I believe he broke his wrist. He never seemed to have the same energy level after that. Maybe I wouldn't either.

Same with Sterlin after his big wreck at Kansas. Really sucked. I like Sterlin.

Can't remember the year exactly but that was the year that he was all lined up to win the championship. He had a real great year.

That was 2002 when Sterling was nearly a shoe-in for the Championship, but had the bad crash at Kansas. He is still one of my favorite drivers, and basically the last of the "good 'ol boys". After Kansas, Jamie McMurray stepped in his Coors Light Dodge, and won in only his second Cup start. That shows how strong that Gannasi Dodge was. After that, the wheels fell off with that team, and they never really got them back on.
