| Keselowski to attempt two Cup races in Hendrick's 25 CONCORD, N.C. -- Hendrick Motorsports will enter 24-year-old Brad Keselowski in two Sprint Cup Series events in 2008, marking the successful young driver's first foray into NASCAR's top division. Keselowski will attempt to qualify a fifth Hendrick Motorsports entry -- the No. 25 Chevrolet -- for the Oct. 11 Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway and the Nov. 2 Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Veteran crew chief Lance McGrew will direct the effort. "We've gotten a glimpse of what Brad is capable of in the Nationwide Series, and that's just scratching the surface," team owner Rick Hendrick said. "He has a load of talent and potential, and we're excited to give him an opportunity at the next level." A Rochester Hills, Mich., native, Keselowski sits third in the Nationwide championship standings with two victories, 10 top-five finishes and 16 top-10s in the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. The team, which is co-owned by Hendrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr., has posted wins this season at Nashville and Bristol. "I'm focused on making the most of these first two races," Keselowski said. "The Sprint Cup Series has always been a goal, and now it's up to me to take advantage of the opportunity." Keselowski, who already has tested the new Chevrolet Impala SS for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008, will drive the No. 25 Chevy this week during the two-day Cup Series open test at Lowe's. "I've already gotten a lot of seat time in the Impala SS and developed some great chemistry when testing with Lance, so we're a little ahead of the curve," Keselowski said. "Now I've got to concentrate on furthering my communication with the team and developing more of a relationship with my teammates." | Re: Keselowski to attempt two Cup races in Hendrick's 25 I think this is wrong..... he needs at least 6 years of Nationwide expierence before he attempts the challenges of racing a cup car with the professionals such as Sam Hornisch, Patrick C., AJ humdinger, Scott Riggs, Robby Gordon, Reagan Smith, Casey Mears and of course Mike Mcdowell!! HMS must be loosing thier minds!!!! |

Re: Keselowski to attempt two Cup races in Hendrick's 25 Didn't DEI try to enter 5 cars at Watkins Glen and Nascar said "no" they could only have 4? I think it was Regan Smith that could not run WG. Carrie

Re: Keselowski to attempt two Cup races in Hendrick's 25 different case.... you can add a team for an up comming driver. DEI could have done that if say it was Joey Lagano. But it was Reagan Smith and he already had a full time ride.... his own. DEI was wanting to put someone else in the #1 car in order to secure them more points in top 35. And then run Reagan Smith in another car so he could keep earing his driver points.... can't have it both ways

Re: Keselowski to attempt two Cup races in Hendrick's 25 I did not know that. I was stuck on the 4 cars rule which I know really won't be inforced in the the 2010 season correct? Anyway NASCAR has too many frickin rules!!! I learn something new everyday. Carrie

Re: Keselowski to attempt two Cup races in Hendrick's 25 He sure ain't. Out of 5 cars only 2 are in Jack Roush's name.

Re: Keselowski to attempt two Cup races in Hendrick's 25 I know that. But if he really wanted to that would be a loop hole for him, only 2 teams are in his name.
