I disagree with it maybe being a "good move." Maybe a good move for Jim France because he needs to gen up some interest in the Rolex Series. But, in the USA sports car racing is a "niche" sport. It has never enjoyed a wide base of interest. This is one of the reason CART rubbed so many people the wrong way; they viewed the CART love of road courses as being an offshoot of sports car racing.
Speaking only for myself, I don't see any future in copying what is popular in Europe, or the rest of the world. We're the USA and we are different. What is wrong with oval tracks and trucks? The French might not especially dig it, but a lot of Americans do.
As far as what we see in the showrooms, the trucks in CTS look a lot more like what we see in the showrooms than the Rolex race cars do, unless you hang out in Lamborghini and Ferrari showrooms

I agree. The Rolex/Grand Am have some good races, often better than what Cup produces. But CTS and Grand Am are two different types of racing. If road racing is your thing, then Grand Am would probably be good for you. I, personally, much prefer American oval racing.

Which is why I watch it occasionally. This is also the very reason I prefer CTS over Cup and Cup Lite.
I guess if NA__AR gets their marketing machine fully behind Grand Am a lot of people will buy into it. I probably won't, but then that's just me.
But it will be interersting to watch and see what NA__AR/ISC does with their new (actually this all went down back in January, I believe?) toy.
