He said that if he hadn't have grown too tall to fit in a race car he probably would have become either a stock car driver or a drag racer. His father helped Robert built his first short track car for the Asheville track. Daugherty's story reminds me of many of the kids I ran around with in the 50's. Maybe that's why I've become a Brad fan; he reminds me of my youth, something I don't see a lot of anymore. Know whut Ah meen, Vern?

| Re: Daugherty is NASCAR's most visible black man This might seem like a stupid question but is this Randy Moss person someone I should know of? |

| Re: Daugherty is NASCAR's most visible black man OK, who is he? I hate being in the dark. From how everyone in the media is so ga-ga, I assume he's in baseball? |

| Re: Daugherty is NASCAR's most visible black man I saw Randy Moss for the first time in a clip talking about having his name on the hood. I am sure he is a splendid fellow. But I just never saw him before now. Guess that is another sign of getting old huh?

In you honest opinion, do you think this Moss guy is actually going to involved and stock car racing is a sport he actually gives a crap about? Or, do you think this is just a replay of Staubach's and What's-his-name's HOF Racing fiasco and the #50 BGN team several years back, owned by the track& field guy and his wife? Let me do some digging and I'll come up with their names, given a bit of time. The BGN team disappeared after a couple years and HOF? Staubach and his buddy attended what? 2-3 races? I've seen these high-profile types make a big splash in NASCAR before and they usually fizzle. The big exception is Coach and he's been a gear head since he was a kid and his transition to racing was natural. IF Moss the real deal or is just just another effort to make some publicity points? I'd be very interested in your opinion, Simon, my lad. |

i hope he sticks around .... to hear him talk about it, he will be in it for years ... but of course you never know but at the moment how many non-NASCAR fans may watch a truck race because of his involvement ... again i will bet its more then watch because of Daugherty

last i checked he has never been in a car, let alone raced one ...... he may know the history and the ins and outs but he knows very little about actual racing imo i have nothing against the man, i just dont agree with your statement |

But, I can see where's he's coming from. Russell is kind of irritating and Jarrett has become a mouthpiece for the NASCAR company line. Every once in awhile Dale will say what he's actually believes but then he wakes up, realizes where he's at, and quiets down a bit. |
