This article says Legano will be in several Cup races for the remainder of the season, with Gatorade as sponsor... So what car number will he be in? Will he have to qualify on speed?

According to comments at ESPN, Gibbs sometimes runs a fourth car, the #80. Apparently this was done before I started watching last year.

Yes he'll have to qualify on speed. Which with Gibbs equipment, I don't think that will be a problem.

80??? They're just setting this kid right up for faliure. Everyone knows car numbers over 50 are bad luck!!!

Seriously though, I do agree with this move. We've already had the discussion of whether it is too early for Logano to go full time in Cup next year, so at least put him in a few races before the end of this year to see if he can survive.

The decision to make the jump really depends on the driver. Kyle Busch made a somewhat smooth transition (2 wins) after just 1 full year of nbs/nns racing. Reed sorenson on the other hand probably made the jump too early. Both of them however had more nationwide experience, than joey does. I guess we will see. The cup and nationwide cars are so different now, that I am not sure running those races will do much for him in cup anyway.
