Kyle Busch has a chance to add to his magical season. The Sprint Cup Series points leader has already won twice on road courses this season. A win Sunday at Watkins Glen would make him the first driver NASCAR driver to win three road course races in the same season. Busch won the Nationwide Series race in Mexico City. He also won the Sprint Cup Series race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Don't bet against Busch either. He's due for a good race after a slump by his 2008 standards. Many and various thoughts around this. Some being:

* KyB is pretty much currently/presently at/equal to the best out there (Sprint/National/Craftsman) today and his current demonstrations on the left and righters is just further data in the substantiation bank.

* Am wondering if any other previously entered enough contests (Sprint/Nationwide combined) to have even had the opportunity to set a similar or higher benchmark?

* Wondering also - Has another won both Sprint right and lefters in a single season? One might interpret that since KyB has opportunity for "first" that he is currently tied?

* Intrigued that when a/any sport becomes significantly popular how the statistical database becomes fodder for analysts to access and employ to announce a variety of "firsts". To the extreme but perhaps helping to define the point: First left handed driver to have ever won three consequetive Tuesday events held as a result of rain postponement on the two previous days at a track where the front stretch direction was 30 degrees magnetic (not true) and whos' mothers birthday was in April.

There are folks who will really see this KyB "Chance at history" as defined by the author/reporter as "special", even a measure of ------ well best let the explanation come from the knowing.

Well, he's got a good shot at it starting on the pole because of the rained out qualifying. He showed he can wheel a racecar on road courses. He's got to be one of the favorites at The Glen.
