Kinda a Logano in reverse - lotsa experience at lesser levels, chronologically ready by the measure of/for those who see that as signficant, but success at the Cup level in previous attempts -----

Have always had this dark feeling that he was gonna get himself destroyed/wasted out there. Flashes of "not too bad", but durations of - what the frig is that one doing?

He ain't ready, but he'll likely be given the "chance", and he'll likely not do much more than already shown.

As far as Kerry Earnhardt’s son, Jeffrey, a DEI development driver who races in the Camping World East Series, the father doubts his son will have a full-time Nationwide ride in 2009.

“We’re not going to go and throw anybody to the wolves,” Kerry Earnhardt said of Jeffrey and fellow DEI developmental drivers Trevor Bayne and Jesus Hernandez. “We’ll end up testing them and racing them here and there before we put them in for a full season.”

Dear Kerry,

You're doing a great job with Jeffrey. You're keeping him out of the media spotlight, letting him pay his dues, and letting him gain valuable experience as a young driver. You're not quickly pushing him up like others are doing with their kids. The way he's being handled is the right way to do it. And I'm thrilled watching him progress like he is. So my suggestion is to not throw yourself to the wolves. Keep doing what you're doing with Jeffrey. Race your 1 race a year, and be satisfied knowing when Jeffrey finally makes it to the Cup series, you can sit back filled with fatherly pride, knowing you helped him get there, without the distractions of running with the wolf pack yourself.

Those Earnhardt-fan-haters out there will think I'm schizophrenic, but Kerry just doesn't have it from what I've seen. He looks like his Dad, but certainly doesn't drive like him. I'd be more interested in following Kerry's son, Jeffrey (Oh, no! Not another Jeff!). I kinda feel sorry for Kerry not being able to follow in his Dad's footsteps. But let's face it, those are some pretty big footsteps to follow.

If my Dad was a brain surgeon, doesn't mean I'd have the same talent no matter how much schooling I attended. You've either got it, or you don't. Kerry is a "don't". I hope he proves me wrong. The keyword here is "proves." I would like nothing more than to see Jr. and Kerry battle for the win ... that'll never happen.

I struggle with Kerry. I want to see him do well ... yes, ... due to his namesake ... but he just doesn't seem to have "it". Perhaps he can step aside and let his son have a go at it ... that might be better. I will never be a fan of an Earnhardt soley due to the name. You have to earn my respect.
