| Saturday night's all right for NASCAR Let's make all of the final 10 races of the season - the ones that decide who will be the Sprint Cup champion - all night races. Yes, night races. Better yet, night races on Saturdays. Moving the races to Saturday nights could do what the Chase for the Championship, at least in part, was designed to do but hasn't - namely build buzz around stock car racing in the fall. From a fan's perspective, watching a night race is simply more exciting. The colors are more vibrant, the energy level seems higher, everything is amplified. Hands down, one of the best races to watch in person or on TV is the August night race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Likewise, it's much easier for the average fan to tune in on a Saturday night for several hours than to have to deal with the family fallout that any fan faces when he - or she - decides to plop on the couch on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Night races pose interesting challenges to the teams, too, making the racing more unpredictable. -- NY Daily News Saturday night's all right for NASCAR |

| Re: Saturday night's all right for NASCAR Somehow I think the many local track owners and promoters out there (and me) would disagree mightily with your assessment of Cup night races. |

| Re: Saturday night's all right for NASCAR Sure. A majority of the local tracks run on either Friday or Saturday night. In many cases, both nights. This is there livelihood and many tracks pay the contestants a percentage of the gate. It has been proven that when a Cup race is run on a Saturday night, the attendance for that night's racing drops by double digit percentages. I know of a track over in Mississippi which doesn't run on the night Cup runs because he doesn't make enough to keep his doors open. Cup racing on Saturday nights kills local racing and local racing is the very heart of NA__AR. Sorry. A couple of night races each season is OK but this absolute pandering to the networks and the couch NA__AR fans has gotten out of hand and is wrong on multiple levels, IMNSVHO. Do dat 'splain my position?

| Re: Saturday night's all right for NASCAR You live in Nashville, don't you? I-65 North to exit 104. Turn left off the ramp and go approximately a mile to Highland Rim Speedway. Then you have The Fairgrounds, the dirt track up at Clarksville and the other dirt track at Winchester. The only two I've been to are Highland Rinm and The Fairgrounds, but they have better racing there on any Saturday night than you'll see on TV. |

| Re: Saturday night's all right for NASCAR I've always said that NASCAR should run a big Majority of their races at night. For the following reasons 1). It's just a better show for TV veiwing 2). You are no longer competing against the unbeatable NFL on Sundays. 3). The sport would grow with fan base because their are more oportunitee for people too see the sport (meaning being shown on TV's at popular bars on Sat. night.) 4). Would give drivers and teams an extra day off during the week (Sunday) 5). You would have a back up day for rain outs. 6). Attendence would increase due to fans that have the travel to the races. They won't have too take off work on Mondays to travel back home. The NFL had HUGE success with Monday Night Football and NASCAR could do the same with Sat. night. I have heard before that many track owners are not liking the Sat. night races due to lack of atttendence when the big boys run Sat. night. |

| Re: Saturday night's all right for NASCAR Sorry guys. I began watching stock car racing at a local track and continue to got to local tracks whenever I get the chance. Saturday and Friday nite racing kills the majority of the local tracks. I don't consider myself and my personal convenience of single importance. I want to see local racing survive. It torques my jaw that, while NA__AR claims it cherishes the local tracks and wants them to prosper so that drivers and mechanics can use the experience they gain there as a springboard, it continues to stab them in the back by churning out more and more nite races. Believe me, if I had a choice between the primadonnas of NA__AR doing without and the local, hometown heroes going without, it's no contest. NA__AR can go take a aviating intercourse at an rotating piece of pastry, as far as I'm concerned. |

| Re: Saturday night's all right for NASCAR I like both the night and the day races, but here is the thing, they have them at the wrong times. They the summer races on Saturday nights, when there is nothing going on Sunday expect for maybe one baseball games. But then they just stop the night races for the Chase, but you what starts on Sunday afternoons at about the same time, huh, I know, I know football season. Which I'm pretty sure takes away have of the causal NASCAR fans. But put it on a Saturday night, and problem fixed. If I was NASCAR I would move the Chase to Saturday nights.

| Re: Saturday night's all right for NASCAR I love night races ... on TV. I would never attend a night Cup race. Not that I wouldn't enjoy it, but I can't imagine what time I would get home! I'm only about 45 minutes from Loudon, but I'd pretty much have to pull an all nighter. Plus, I'd be willing to bet the fans at night are really, really drunk and obnoxious. Heck, some are drunk and obnoxious by noon during a day race. Local short tracks are different. Most of the races I attended were at night, but I was home at a reasonable hour ... if you consider 2 a.m. reasonable. Bottom line is that day or night, if the race is on, I'm watching.

Small teams are already a myth to newer fans, lets not make great local racing the same.
