My gosh, has no one here ever read Homer's "Odyssey" or "Iliad?"

Trust me, you don't want the Gods ticked off at you!
Odyssey, I can understand. But Achilles never messed with the Gods, did he? I thought that he was just a soldier with a band of overly loyal Mymirdon (one of my favourite words for sheep-like followers) fighters who got p.o.'d at ... Agamemnon (?).. Damn, it's been years since I've read those! I just barely remember them.

But, you are right. Two things one NEVER screws with is God and Mother Nature.

His mother was Thetis who was a sea goddess. His father was Peleus who was the king of the Myrmidons. Zeus and Poseidon both had a thing for Thetis at one time! Achilles was protected until he was hit by an arrow in his only vulnerable spot, his heel. But, you are right Achilles never messed with the Gods and your memory seems pretty good!
