Shrub Trashes Fans

Hey, guys and gals! Haven't logged in for a while, but wanted to created this Thread before I start to peruse recent posts. Administrators, if this Thread has been discussed and is redundant, feel free to delete it.

I think you all know I'm not a Busch fan ... at all. Did any of you catch the comments Shrub made about the fans in Victory Lane after the last race he won? I think it was last Sunday. Not Pocono, the week before.

He said something like, and I'm paraphrasing here, "It makes me happy to win and to know that the fans who boo me are crying all the way home." What a flippin' jerk! DW was right (sorry, LSC), Shrub needs to keep his mouth shut. One more comment that makes me hate him. You don't trash the fans, whether they boo or cheer! I hate him! I hate him! I hate him!

Shrub reminds me of the delinquents I went to high school with and ended up in reform school. He's a punk!

So, are saying that you don't like him? I agree that he needs to learn when to shut up, I mean I don't mind a little attitude, but he takes it too far sometimes. IMO, unless fans are doing something incredibly stupid (throwing beer cans type of stupid) then they should be off-limits, cause it's not good to start alienating them.

Agreed. Fans should not throw anything at any driver, no matter what! Still, I don't think any driver should trash the fans. After all, if it wasn't for us, where would NASCAR be? Not a Gordon fan, but when the so-called fans threw trash at him, that was deplorable.

Re: Shrub Trashes Fans

I have no problem with him saying that.

Have you been to a track lately when the introduce him????

They even boo'd him at the "prelude to a dream".

It's low class, and I'm glad he enjoys it.

The fans that boo'd him, and JJ and Gordon at the charity event deserve a beating.

Those drivers gave up thier free time, and even built cars, for charity.

I have no pity for the folks at Dover that Shrub trashed either.

I was there, and you would think they had paraded the Al Qaeda (sp) out there for the crowd.

A little booing is fun, I guess. I don't do it, but to each his own. But the level of booing for him, and the things the fans were screaming from the stands.

I'm just glad there didn't seem to be any reporters up there in the stands.

Re: Shrub Trashes Fans

Unless you've been booed, you will never understand the feeling. There's a difference between being booed as a team (which I have been a part of on several occasions in my career) and being booed as an individual. As a team, you pretty much ignore it the best you can and remind each other that the best way to shut the crowd up is to... yes... beat them and I've always found it to be a great motivating tool!

Now, I've never experienced being booed as an individual and I can't imagine what I'd do if I ever was... but I'm guessing that you could do one of two things: you could either cower and frown and get really upset because people don't like you and throw a tantrum -OR- you could shrug your shoulders, act like you don't care and go do your thing. Now, I think Shrub really would PREFER to be cheered but he's not going to say that so he's going to bask in the booing and do his best to silence the crowd. Honestly, I think he's done a good job silencing his critics, don't you agree?

However, I do think that booing him and his mom at the Mother's Day race was very classless and uncalled for. That's the problem with the "Mob Mentality" and there's not a whole lot anyone can do about that.

If the fans don't have a problem booing him, I don't have a problem with what he said about it. But with what he said I don't see where he was thrashing the fans. Just basically said he don't care that they boo when he wins. Kinda nice to have a driver that don't let what the fans think determine how he does.

I completely agree, for what that's worth.

Plus, remember, the Shrub we see on the mike or on camera might not be the real Kyle. He's taken up the role of villain and is playing it to the hilt and apparently having a lot of fun, and making a lot of money, doing so.

Good for him! NA__AR has badly needed a driver worthy of being boo'd since Dale died. I hope that he has the chutzpah to carry it on for a few year, and even becomes a little more offensive. He'll cry all the way to the bank.

Besides, it's not like some of these fans don't need to have someone get in their face and tell them what schlemiels they really are.

Is that ever the truth! Seems most feel the same way. I think if the crowd can boo, a driver can defend himself a bit.

I don't see where what he said is that bad! Hell, I talk to my friends worse than that! (in good fun, of course)

I'm sure that most rational people feel this way. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you....these "negative fans" have no class at all

Re: Shrub Trashes Fans

If Busch wants to egg the fans on, let him. It's better than callin the fans low-class, or callin them idiots.

As far as fans booin.... it's ok to an extent.... to me it's classless when it's a charity event or when say the driver's mother is present at driver introductions. JMO

Re: Shrub Trashes Fans

Missed the "trashing" in that which was reported to have been said.

Guess there's still a lot we have to learn.

Re: Shrub Trashes Fans

I really dont mind the booing that kyle recieves, its the fans opinion of him. And he eggs the fans on with some of his comments, which i think is fine to. If the fans hate him so much than kyle can say whatever he wants about those fans. He was never liked in the beggining and after Richmond, i dont think he will ever be "liked". But you have to respect him even if you hate him for what he can do inside the racecar.

But never, and i dont care how much you hate a certain driver throw stuff at them. thats just tasteless.

Re: Shrub Trashes Fans

Do you think Kurt Bush is loving this or hating this? Last year he was the bad guy,now he is a nobody

And what did Kyle ever do to ☻☻☻☻ off so many people?

I think everyone should just enjoy all of this. love him or hate him but the guy is the most entertaining driver this sport has seen in 10 years.

I remember they (general fan population) use to hate Tim Richmond and Ernie Irvine.... If I remember Alan Kulwicki was never a fan favorite. But all of a sudden something happened and everyone then talked how great these guys were.... So just enjoy it people. Things can happen and change quickly in this game!
