WOW .. a thing of beauty. Look ... a place to mount a license plate. Actual factory fenders. Doors with actual lines where it would open. Chrome trim around the windshield. Sockets where the headlights would be. A real grill. This is like a dream come true !!!

A 427 engine !!!

Speaking of which, has anybody submitted their name for that? I know that you like AMP Bears, did you? I submitted my name a week ago, mainly because I was bored, but it is still a pretty cool thing.

Actually, I found the 73 car!

Ta daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

in '73, my brother ran a brand new '73 Holman-Moody Laguna in, what was then, Grand National (Cup).

A Laguna is that car that I put a picute up of. It's a Chevy! A Chevelle that was marketed and sold so they could race it. They were sort of ugly street cars, but cool race cars!

Homan-Moody was a legendary race team that many great drivers of the day drove for.

My dad had a laguna... man it was awesome. It's hard to find parts for those damn things cause people by them and turn them into dirt track cars. My uncle Greg (god rest his soul) had a line on one to scrap for parts to fix up my dads.... Uncle greg wanted it, and the guy said he would have to talk to the ones with the title to take hold of it.... the guy turned around and gave it to a friend who turned it into a dirt track car.... Uncle Greg was so mad he threatened to shoot the man for the dirty underhanded thing he pulled.

Re: Check this out

My Uncle bought one brand new, but only kept is a year. I forget the color. It had a lot of plastic on it for it's day, but it was a stand out car on the streets!

yes it is American made - Holman-Moody is a Charlotte, NC, business that's been in racing for about 50 years. in the late 60's and early 70's, they were the premier NASCAR chassis builder, though they have always specialized in campaigning Fords. their website documents their Ford heritage.

as others have mentioned, the Laguna was a special body style from Chevrolet for NASCAR racing. It was introduced to compete with the Ford Torino fastback (the Chevy Monte Carlo Aero wasn't very popular, nor much competition for the Torino.) NASCAR had a rule back then that, to be legal a body style/model had to be available to the general public and must have sold at least 500.

So now cars are made just for Nascar racing? For some reason, never thought about that. Guess I thought they were cars that were just rebuilt.

the only thing you'll find from a NASCAR car at your local dealer is ball caps and t-shirts. everything about them is custom made, not rebuilt.

You know what the funny part about that is, I'm a Jeff Gordon, and I hate Pepsi.
