| Yates Racing has good day with unsponsored cars Don't overlook the run by Yates Racing on Sunday. David Gilliland finished 15th and Travis Kvapil was 18th. Both are in unsponsored cars. Roush Fenway Racing provides marketing help and supplies engines and cars to that team. Roush Fenway needs the Yates cars to run well (and even the Wood Brothers, although they're not showing a lot of signs of doing so) as the season progresses. The more teams in the same manufacturing camp excel and learn the more the information can pass along teams. If Yates falls off, Roush has no one to compare notes with if they start to struggle. One has to figure other teams will catch the Roush cars down the road, so to stay ahead of that, they need to keep learning. Geoff Smith, president of Roush Fenway Racing, admits the key of other Ford teams is vital for his organization. --The Virginian-Pilot That's why they call it racing, not whining | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com |

| Re: Yates Racing has good day with unsponsored cars On track performance is only a part of what it takes to satisfy a sponsor in today's NASCAR. Just watch a car race and qualifying each week and see how much they talk about car XXX that never has a chance to be in the top 20. It's about how much exposure you can give the sponsor. Only so many cars can run in the top 10 each year. |

Both Yates cars are well in the Top 35 and have no sponsors, but the 01 at DEI is living on the edge when it comes to the top 35, yet they have two prominent sponsors for that one car. Even though the Yates are way better off performance wise.

| Re: Yates Racing has good day with unsponsored cars yeah I thi thier trying to hold out for bigger bucks, but they don't have a star driver such has jerrett or even sadler. they should run the 28 in the black/white havoline paint(no lettering) that would bring more attention to the car. I would love to see UPS return to yates, even though I like MWR

I'm not busting on you Will, but more attention to the car by a black and white scheme, it already is, it's just reversed, with no red!! The best way to bring attention to that car: Is exactly what they are doing!! At least top 20s!! That's pretty good for cars with no sponsors especially in this day and age!! Alan Kulwicki, I believe was the last person to win sponsorless?!? Please correct me if I'm wrong!! |
