David Pooles views!

Life in the Turn Lane

Interesting take on this weeks appeals, and what the results of it are telling him.

A good read, and food for thought!

It confirms what some others have said about the extra downforce that can be created from leaving this lid loose.

I am left wondering what tipped NASCAR off to this fact?? They seem to really be looking for it this year.

Am I the only one that suspects someone ratted out someone??

Like maybe someone found out a team that had a lot of wins last year, that is struggling this year, was using that trick.

Of course, if it was them, you would think they would have gotten caught!

I already have a drink, and that one baffled me as well!

But I don't wanna make up folks minds!

I'm curious to know what folks think about this article, and the decisions of the panel!

I wish I wasn't working this weekend, I'd love to hear the talking heads trying to figure this one out!

Re: David Pooles views!

What Poole says is basically the way it should work. The purpose for the commission is to decide whether NASCAR had cause to penalize a driver/team/owner and if the penalty was appropriately administered according to the rules. They do have the power to increase, decrease or dismiss the penalty .. according to the written rules in the mythical NASCAR Rule Book.

What happened this week reminds me of the 9th Circuit in Cali-FORN-ia and the way they act. Guess we just need to call it "left-handed justice" and put it up there with the "left-handed cigarettes" they were obviously smoking...

Inadvertently they made Robby a NASCAR record holder, and thus a folk hero of sorts.

Comparison with the 9th Court? Good one. I was thinking of the Supremes but yours is better.

Yep, Robby now has the distinction of having the heaviest fine levied on him, in NA__AR history! Just think... only three years ago Evernham had the record with a paltry $60K. Now the question begs to be answered: Does the record fine make Robby the biggest cheater in NA__AR history? Or, did NA__AR bump up the fine because they are sure it's going to come mostly, or entirely, out of MOPAR's pockets?

Another question: Should the Appeals Commission be able to modify NA__AR rulings, as they did with Robby? Or, should they either approve or totally reject the ruling? In modifying rulings, aren't they, in effect, creating new NA__AR law?

But then, what do I know?
