new tracks

could it be that new tracks are built on questionable land[cheap,unstable,swamp,ect..]...imagine what would seep out of that track they wanted to build on staten island....was not there a track to be built over a land fill in the mid- west?... that would be some nice stuff to bubble up on the track........

willkesboro never leaked!!!!

Neither did Rockingham... All they would have had to do was to move the date from February to Mother's Day and it would have filled the stands. Feb. race dates anywhere north of Jacksonville are basically automatic losers.

What would have seeped out on the proposed track on Staten Island? Maybe Jimmy Hoffa?

I don't know about any Midwest track being built on a land fill (That's pretty much what California is built on; the site of the old Kaiser Steel Mill) but if I 'member correctly the track at East St Louis is built on the site of a bunch of topless bars and whore houses. I have relatives living near the track in Granite City and I remember that area as being pretty bad.

Re: new tracks

Let's "kick start" the Pacific Northwest again.
That dream just died a quit death ?.
But putting my Nascar hat on, I would think that with the advent of Toyota and as some predict Honda in the next decade, Nascar could easily "double" it's fan base by running 2 races in Japan and dumping venues that get a second race.

That would probably require a few foreign racers to be sucessful. I'm sure the Japanese would be as interested in seeing 43 American racers as we would be about seeing 43 Japanese racers.

Your right, and I can't see a problem with that, they have lots of good drivers from their GT type car races that would be hired just for one or two races by the Toyo teams.
Kind of like the "specialists" for road courses, or the ones for the IRL races in Japan.

Actually the much vaunted Charlotte Motor Speedway is built on a dump. They figured out how to make it work there so why not NY?

I don't know Bob. You've got Juan Pablo in NA$CAR now, the mob would have to deal with the Cartel
