CitiFinancial Announces Sponsorship of NASCAR Nationwide Series Team Entry

BALTIMORE, Md - CitiFinancial today announced it will be the primary sponsor on a variety of Roush Fenway Racing entries in all 35 NASCAR Nationwide Series events in 2008. The sponsorship is part of Citi's new multifaceted, strategic marketing partnership with Roush Fenway Racing, one of NASCAR's premier racing teams. As part of the relationship, CitiFinancial will tap into Roush Fenway's all-star driver lineup to pilot the CitiFinancial Ford. In addition, Citi will become a major associate sponsor on all Roush Fenway Racing teams, including the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entries of Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, and David Ragan.

"We are thrilled to expand and enhance our incredibly successful presence in NASCAR," said Mary McDowell, President and CEO of CitiFinancial North America. "Our customers and employees are huge fans of this great sport, and we could not be happier teaming up with Roush Fenway Racing and its tremendously talented roster of drivers."

In the Nationwide Series, Biffle, Kenseth, McMurray, Erik Darnell, Colin Braun, and 2007 series champion Carl Edwards will split seat time in the CitiFinancial Ford Fusion - which will rotate among the Roush Fenway Nos. 16, 17, and 60 Fords throughout the season. In addition to displaying the CitiFinancial logo on the quarter-panels, the Citi logo will adorn the hood.

I'm surprised any bank/financial institution is in shape to sponsor any NASCAR teams after the latest sub-prime mess. They need to keep their money and buy-back some of their stock to help out their shareholders...

think of it this way: for every dollar they spend on NASCAR sponsorship that's 8 or 9 "pre-approved applications" that don't clog up our postal system.

But then, if the pre-approved credit apps evaporated what would that do to the shredder industry?

Re: CitiFinancial Announces Sponsorship of NASCAR Nationwide Series Team Entry

every once in a while I try to "help" the USPS make a few extra bucks while at the same time striking an ineffective, but somehow satisfying blow against snail mail spam. however, it does require a bit of preplanning: save all that junk mail for a few days, or even a week (for those of you who don't get much.)

then take all the things preprinted with your name and/or address on them and cut them off.

now get creative: put the pre-approved Capitol One application in the prepaid return envelope for AARP; send the AARP brochures to Publisher's Clearing House; those medication brochures/coupons to the mortgage refinance place; etc., etc.. have a ball mixing and matching. then just drop them in the mail and feel satisfied you've made a (very) small dent in those companies' advertising budget by forcing them to pay the postage twice on their junk mail.

if you're overrun with junk mail from one source, just send it back to them in their prepaid return envelope with "NO" written on the personal info portion. (never fear, it'll take more than this to get your name & address off their books.)

ya know deep down it's like spitting in the ocean, but somehow it makes you feel better and you've decreased your weekly amount of trash!

Last I knew, and this is a number of years ago but !!!!! When you use one of those prepaid envelopes they do not get charged the 41 cent rate. It is at least twice that so by all means support your local mailperson and send all those things back.
