The "drug scene" in NASCAR will shift into high gear during 2008. In this case, the drug of choice will be adrenaline pumped through the veins of a select group of young drivers who will make enormous strides in slowing the Hendrick juggernaut that produced 18 victories during the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season. Among this group is Clint Bowyer, a former Kansas body shop worker who drives like and looks like a modified racer from the 1950s; young David Ragan, who proved you can jump from the prolific Legends Car to big-time stock car racing without going through the late model ranks; Kyle Busch, who has already proven he is one of the toughest young drivers in history; and Columbian Juan Pablo Montoya, who will continue to prove Chip Ganassi's formidable eye for talent. Also, watch for Carl Edwards, who could have an outstanding year and emerge as a superstar. i know i left racing for awhile ........ and havent really followed open-wheel in even longer ....... but this author doesnt really seem to have a clue

seemed odd to me the article comes from "paddock talk" .... which if i remember correctly the paddock is what open-wheelers call the garage area

Excellent point IRT "Paddock," Simon. However, the author "not having a clue...? Did you notice the by-line?

Apparently this Skyler character is your run-of-the-mill bloger who posted a release by Humpy on this web site, Paddock News. Personally, I'd say Humpy has a whole lot of knowledge going for him.

I never knew Howard "Humpy" had a BA in Journalism? That was about the biggest thing I gleamed from the article.

IRT his "predictions, I agree that Bowyer is potentially maybe one of the biggest talents to come to NA__AR in the past decade. But I just don't see him as champion material quite yet.

I also think Humpy's statement about drugs being big news in 2008 might be close, but not the adrenaline he mentions. Recreational pharmaceuticals are more along the lines of what I'm thinking.

Reason: Lots of younger and younger kids getting rides in NA__AR's three main series'. When you mix a lack of maturity and massive amounts of income you are flirting with trouble, BIG TIME! The kids in the Cup ranks are watched closely but I think Shane Hmiel, Kevin Grubb and Aaron Fike were just the tip of the iceberg in the lower levels of NA__AR.

Other than a reordering of a single paragraph, the Paddock Talk article seems a direct copy. I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe the Inside Groove isn't the source for the article or that Humpy wasn't the author.

Paddock Talk does cover more than open-wheel...it's just not their focus.

no prob, I changed the tag line, so it wasn't obvious.

I was really commenting on the source of the article .. I had been to Paddock Talk at lunchtime and not seen it, but it was at Inside Groove a few minutes later. That's where I picked it up.
