Regarding this, I remember in 2005 when the teams objected to the amount of impound races and NASCAR dropped the number down for the 2006 season. At the time Mike Helton said, ""In the overall scheme of things, it didn't fit the way we thought it would. We just wanted to back off that and take a look at it from a different angle. We just haven't found the right balance yet." After he said that, it never made any sense to me to have ANY impound races at all, until after they figured out what to do. Well, seems to me they've had plenty of time and still haven't figured it out, because nothing has changed. They're still running 5 impound races. So if they can't figure out what to do about this, I don't have much confidence in them figuring out the Top 35 rule stinks and changing it. Then again, I haven't seen any news what they're gonna do about the impound rules for next year. So we'll see.

Re: NASCAR considering separate qualifying sessions

As far as I am concerned the only solution to the top 35 mess is to get rid of it and the top 43 qualify on speed.

NASCAR considering separate qualifying sessions
My personal opinion is absolutely not. It's putting a bandage on a gaping wound.

Once more, NA__AR acknowledges a problem but completely lacks the cajoņes to do anything meaningful about it.
