| Domestic Violence Awareness Month Verizon Wireless and Motorola Team up with Robby Gordon Motorsports in the Fight against Domestic ViolenceRobby Gordon Motorsports Racing Jackets Date: until supplies run out October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Verizon Wireless, Motorola, and Robby Gordon Motorsports are trying to help raise community awareness about domestic violence and its societal impact. One out of 3 American women report being abused at some point in their lifetime, and 21% of full-time, employed adults report they have been a victim. Verizon Wireless is a corporate leader in helping to prevent domestic violence and also has an established program called HopeLine that collects and turns unused phones into support for victims of domestic violence. Since HopeLine's national phone recycling and re-use program was launched in 2001, Verizon Wireless: " Has collected more than 4 million phones " Awarded nearly $4 million in cash grants to domestic violence agencies and organizations throughout the country " Distributed more than 40,000 phones with airtime and other features valued at more than $10 million to be used by victims of domestic violence " Properly disposed of nearly 1 million no-longer-used wireless phones in an environmentally sound way " Kept more than 200 tons of electronic waste and batteries out of landfills In an effort to further raise money to combat domestic violence, Verizon Wireless, Motorola, and Robby Gordon Motorsports have produced two authentic Robby Gordon leather jackets. All proceeds from the jacket sales will be donated to three anti-violence organizations: The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence, South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and Tennessee Coalition Against Violence. Each agency provides support to hundreds of domestic violence shelters and rape crisis centers in its state. They hope to generate community awareness about issues, problems, policy and legislation relating to domestic violence and sexual assault within their region. The jackets are made of soft New Zealand lambskin leather. Each has a banded collar and full zip front that tapers to a fitted non-elastic waist. One leather jacket was designed to look like Gordon's driver uniform complete with full color logos of Verizon Wireless, Motorola and other various companies. The other is a classic version - a black leather jacket with black logos and black suede accents. The jackets are available in various sizes for a cost of $225 and are available for purchase online at: midwestgrp.com/rgm/. This is a one-time special offer with limited quantities available. Orders are currently being taken and will continue while supplies last. Placed orders are expected to be shipped on October 15, 2007.
