Re: Race View

Like anything and everything these days, you have to pay.

NASCAR.com has NASCAR RACE View.

During the race it has several screens which display a lot of different info.
Cup Standings
Race standings
MPH Speedometer
RPM Meter
You can choose any driver, it shows their photo and short bio.
Track info - length of straight aways, angle of corner etc.
Then there is a screen that will show the driver of your choice and 1 of 3 different angles of that driver's car. Actually it's a computer graphic of the race which I think is closer to real time than the TV. I'd watch on my computer a car pull out from the pit, then a couple seconds later it would show the car pull out from the pit on TV.

Also, no commercials, while the commercials are playing on TV I continue to watch the race on my computer.

Over all I wouldn't say it's a substitute for watching it on TV but it does give you a lot of real time info on any driver on the track during the race.

If you haven't tried it I think they offer 2 weeks free trial. You'd have to check NASCAR.com though.

I had a working girl come up to my car the other night and tell me the same thing. Come to think of it, she kind of reminded me of NA$CAR.

Re: Race View

Obviously there are people paying for this in car view thing or it would have ceased long ago. I did it once when it was a free trial thing. It's delayed so it didn't really add to what I was watching. I suppose it is OK if you are on a ship somewhere but then again if I happen to be on a Caribbean cruise I may forget my love of NASCAR for that week.

Re: Race View

Nope! NASCAR gets enough money as it is ... though I don't really understand where the money from "Race View/Track Pass" goes. Probably to pay those garish web designers who support that horrid NASCAR.com site.

BTW: Did anyone else see one of the pre-race shows where one of the commentators was talking about one of the silly subjects of late, and stated that NASCAR needs more money? I think it was Spencer who said it, but I'm not sure.

Re: Race View

I didn't see that, but I did hear Brad Daughterty say Jeff Gordon was one of the top two drivers in NASCAR history on the ABC pre-race show. Rusty Wallace quickly disagreed with him, which ended the conversation right there.

I saw that too. There were a lot of over-the-top comments on many shows leading up to the race yesterday. Lots of Chase hype. Lots of disagreements.

Re: Race View

I use LiveLeaderBoard (on the homepage for NASCAR.COM) cause it's free and tells me everything I need to know about position, speeds, etc. .. tho it doesn't tell me when a car pits, crashes or blows up, nor does it tell me why a car is out of the race. and I can track as many drivers as I want, each in their own little window (providing my PC has enough horsepower to manage 30+ windows )
