Nope. Not at you at all. And I agreed with your "shot at the dork".

I read too fast ... had a lot of posts to catch up on.

Too much coffee, I guess ... I can admit to that!

Ah yes, I can remember the great days of high octane coffee. My mother used to work for Millstone and I would have at least 30 pounds of high grade beans in my freezer at all times. A great story about coffee...

On board the Connie we would make a new pot for every shift and the shop Chief always had to be the first for that cup of joe. Our shop idiot (seems every division on the boat had one) had ran up to the head on the next deck for water. We waited with great anticipation as usual for the sump light to come on which signifies the pot is ready and of course the Chief hops to the head of the line for the first cup. After a big swig he spits it out and starts coughing while trying to chew some butt all at the same time. Of course Chief's are known for this world famous art. It turns out the kid had gotten the water from the salt water faucet instead of the fresh water. We couldnt stop laughing. Until we realized that we were on water hours and the fresh water was already turned off.

Pretty funny stuff! I can't make it through the day without my coffee. Can go all day without food, but not coffee!

Ok ... back to Topic before LSC or RD beat me up!

Not to worry this time Penny ... when the topic changes to the Navy I'm pretty liberal.

oh wonderful water hours .. spent many a day laying in the bunk (I always seemed to be on the night shift) needing a shower 'cause I didn't get there before water hours.

another navy coffee story: I never drank coffee before I went into the NAVY; but you learn how, cause water gets pretty boring pretty quick and nobody should drink powdered milk! anyway, since I was a big iced tea drinker (with heaping spoolfulls of sugar) and there was none onboard, I learned to drink coffee with sugar, lots of it. one day (night) after being at sea for about 2 weeks we ran out of sugar - no prospect for any until the next "UnRep" (underway replenishment) at least a week away. by then I was hooked on caffeine .. needed the coffee .. bit the bullet and drank it straight. aaaghhh. but kinda grew on me - been drinking it that way for the past 40 years.

I've noticed! When you guys go off on the Navy, I have no clue what you're talking about. That's just fine with me. I'll allow you some slack as long as you allow me the same!
