(a) he's our basic local stick&ball staff reporter for the hartford paper, and... (b) he knows virtually nothing about motorsports and was merely given an assignment to fill up space with words, and... (c) he knows nothing about the people he writes about in motorsports, but rather relies on NASCAR furnished press releases, stats and records, and... (d) wouldn't know a "good" stock car race from a "bad" one, if it came up and bit him on his probably considerable ass. But I could be wrong...

| Re: Bowyer doesn't belong in Chase? I'm glad to see someone else win for a change. And to be in the chase, to get your first win during the chase, is astounding. Right on for Bowyer. Now if only Gordo, Johnson and Stewie could have some bad finishes to really shake sh!t up. That would be like having a Royal Bull in the cross hairs opening morning. |

| Re: Bowyer doesn't belong in Chase? Back in 1992, Alan Kulwicki made a lot of naysayers eat crow, when he won the championship. He was the underdog all year and they said he couldn't do it. He proved them all wrong. I'd like to see Clint Bowyer do the same thing this year. |

| Re: Bowyer doesn't belong in Chase? Wait a minute! Wait a minute! You guys are killing me! Bowyer shouldn't be in the Chase solely because he hasn't won a race ... until yesterday? If anything, NASCAR does reward consistency. Until the Chase, that is, with this additional 10 points per win crap. This SO smacks of Rusty whining because he didn't win the Cup the year he won the most races. Win 10 races (more than anyone else), get DNFs the rest of the season, win the Cup. What the h*ll is that? I must have misinterpreted something! Being true to my hair color today, I guess. ![]() http://www.smileycentral.com/sig.jsp?pc=ZSzeb096&pp=ZN

Take a breath. Re-read the string. What you'll likely discover is majority believe he (Bowyer) deserves "in" and arrows are being shot at the mediot (blend of media and idiot) that seemed to suggest he did not (deserve to be "in"). Actually all will likely be found true even if you do not take a breath. |

I thought Clint absolutely belonged in the Playoffs. In fact, I was hoping he'd win the whole damn thing without getting that first win. In doing so, Clint would have proved to the world that NASCAR's absolutely perverted obsession with "consistency over winning" is as wrong-headed as it's "Chosen 35" Rule. Believe me, Kemosabe, I'm on your side in this one. |
