NASCAR Had No "Choice" ... ?

Bad "choice" of words. If they did have a choice, would the penalties have been lighter?

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm?

It was either fine their ☻☻☻☻☻es and back up what they have been sayin.... or suffer a severe backlash from the rest of the teams as well as the fans. Since it was in violation, for once, they did the right thing.

Re: NASCAR Had No "Choice" ... ?

i agree they had no choice ........ as in if they did nothing people would have thrown beer kegs instead of cans

now i hate JG as much as anyone, but i try and keep an open mind .... i have heard people saying this is a gray area, where they did what they did the template doesnt even go and personally i dont think it is as serious as what Jr's team did weeks ago

now im not saying the penalties are too hard or soft, just trying to keep an open mind

Agreed. And reading the article again, I think is was pretty good. Like the author said, HMS is lucky they didn't get tougher penalties because they broke 4 rules, not just 1.

Appeal? Not surprised. But the crack about Manson made me giggle.

How entertaining is this?

According to the rules theking posted... there is no grey area. You don't alter anything without the approval of NA$CAR. They altered an area without approval and they had the hammer dropped. Pretty cut and dry to me. It should have been more for Knaus.

Not being a fan of any one driver I can say that I don't care which team/driver/owner it is. NASCAR made a very pointed statement when they said that there will be no variations to the COT. Granted the template didn't cover that exact spot, so should there be a push to template the entire vehicle or should we just say "OK boys here is the rule. NO MODIFICATIONS". Templating the entire car would be overly time consuming. The inspection process has already proven to be too long now. Should NASCAR make it longer to accommodate the "Knausing" that team attempt ?

NASCAR came up with the COT so all the cars would be equal, putting more emphasis on the driver than in the past. Why can't CC's like Knaus try and win fairly ?

Was the violation of the #8 team worse than body modification ? For me that would be a tough call. There were parts that were illegal versus handcrafting a fender part. For me the key is that what was done was against the rules. When a violation occurrs and it falls under a specific catagory (body modification) then the penalties should be similar in nature. Both teams (DEI & HMS) violated and were both assessed about the same fines. I'm fine with that. If they want to get the message out there showing that they want parity in racing then NASCAR needs to be consistent.
