What I hate is the fact that we can't get 500 miles worth of racing. If Nascar is going to change any more rules the first one I'd like to see is a full bill of racing. Look I know they can't wait forever to get a race in, but I'd at least want them to take an extra day to run the rest of the race. If we can't get a full race in by end of Monday then call it. |
NA$CAR's rules on this point are very clear (and very much the same as every other race sanctioning body): If the race is past half way and stopped with no chance to continue without reasonable delay, it will be called and the standings at the time of the red flag are final. I believe they think a restart the next day is an unreasonable delay.
I too would like to see a full race. In fact, I predicted at lap 102 Gordon wouldn't be leading in 5 laps, that both Newman and Truex would pass him. But the Rain Gods chose to deny my prediction.
I guess what NA$CAR needs to do is subsidize the tracks without lights so they can don't have this problem next year. Then by 2010 we need to have domes over all the tracks so weather isn't an issue. Then, by golly, we'll get full races and nobody will have to worry about not getting to see it 'cause they have un-refundable plane tickets or have to work or whatever other problems arise when a race is delayed!
